Datacenters are actually utilized by big companies around the globe to defend companies’ most crucial data as well as other business applications. These companies have experienced the various benefits they can get from data centers, so they don’t waste time and money to get connected to these types of awesome services providers.
Following the so-called establishment of Solid State Drive Form Factor Working Group, a group of companies engage in technologies are planning to push the organized solid state storage to the great services of data centers.
The group is apparently consisting of industry players like Micron Technology, Intel, Dell and IBM. The group affirms it would concentrate on the known gains that lots of businesses have reached, by means of standardizing the so-called Peripheral Component Interconnect Express storage drivers.
The press statement also reads: it is hoping to conquer dilemmas currently ruining the push to get faster, and the less power-hungry solid state into the data centers.
"Currently, PCIe-based SSD solutions provide functionality, however lack ease-of-use attributes which customers have started to anticipate," the group is quoted as expressing.
"Standardisation of form factor and interface is needed to provide easy-to-use, compatible, scalable PCIe SSD solutions with lower integration expenses."
There are three major areas of worries which the group is currently planning to realize like a connector which supports SAS/SATA 3.0 including the PCIe 3, this is a form factor which rely on the 2.5-inch normal, along with the support for hot-plugging.
Tom Macdonald, Intel’s VP for architecture group says: "Intel sees PCIe continuing to develop in value as solid state drive interface driven by native attach points within our enterprise platforms."
"The SSD Form Factor Working Group should jointly determine the main building blocks for generations to come of non-volatile memory storage," Macdonald concluded.
